EMER 7630 - Street Medicine & Unhoused Healthcare
Description
This three- to four-week elective immerses students in street medicine and community outreach for people
experiencing homelessness. Learners participate in supervised clinical care delivered directly in
encampments, shelters, and community settings, complemented by clinic-based care at Fourth Street Clinic.
Through hands-on outreach, focused didactics, and structured reflection, students explore trauma-informed
care, substance use disorders, harm reduction, and health systems approaches to caring for unhoused and
underserved populations.
