MD ID 6620 - Safety by Design: Improving care through quality, value and safety (HSS)
Description
This two-week selective introduces students to core principles of patient safety science, with integration of quality improvement (QI) and high-value care to highlight how these disciplines collectively strengthen health system performance. Students will learn how preventable harm occurs in complex systems, how safety events are analyzed, and how clinicians can be leaders in the creation of safer, more efficient, and more equitable healthcare delivery. The course emphasizes diagnostic safety, systems thinking, "just culture", communication tools, and organizational structures.
