Description
Many forms of art-visual, performance, cinematic, literary, etc.-portray aspects of medicine. In this course we will consider a wide range of artworks and art practices that represent figures or concepts related to medicine. We will also create our own art, exploring a variety of techniques and media. Questions we will consider together include: How do certain artworks explore artists' relationships to medical practices as they experienced them? How does making or viewing art shape and enhance medical practice? Why and how is the term "art" used in discussions of medicine?
