INTMD 7983 - Wilderness Medicine - Advanced Wilderness Life Support
Description
This course will be a 2-week elective in which you can earn the Advanced Wilderness Life Support (AWLS) certificate offered by the University of Utah School of Medicine. Session topics include wilderness patient assessment, hypothermia and hyperthermia, wilderness wound management, water treatment, HAPE, AMS, HACE, and other injuries and illnesses unique to the back country.

AWLS is the most important certification in wilderness medicine. It began at the University of Utah School of Medicine in 1997. Here is how you can study and earn this certificate.

7/2023 - 3/2024: Virtual Sections
This is an online course to study wilderness medicine and earn the Advanced Wilderness Life Support (AWLS) certificate offered by the University of Utah School of Medicine. Students can begin this course at any time but will need to complete it before the section end date. See the AWLS website for further information on how to study for this online course. http://www.wildmedu.org

4/1/2024 - 4/14/2024: In Person Section
