OPHTH 7700 - Neuro-Ophthalmology
Description
This is an in-depth 4-week rotation with the Moran Eye Center's team of 5 Neuro-Ophthalmologists. Students will gain firsthand experience in this unique subset of Ophthalmology including evaluation and diagnosis of conditions involving the central nervous system and effects on vision as well as patient presentation during daily morning rounds. Conditions that may be seen while on rotation include, but are not limited to; disc swelling from papilledema, ischemic optic neuropathy, optic neuritis and papillitis, cranial nerve palsies, inflammatory muscle disease, diplopia from sources including Grave's disease, and visual aspects of migraine. This rotation is available year-round and accepts 1 student per block. Approval from the Neuro-Ophthalmology team is required and interested students should contact Chandler Thompson (chandler.thompson@hsc.utah.edu).
