OPHTH 7700 - Neuro-Ophthalmology
Description
This four-week elective is designed for medical students interested in pursuing a career in Ophthalmology. Students will work with our Neuro-Ophthalmology Faculty and Fellow for a firsthand experience in evaluation, diagnosis, and review of all the basics in Neuro-Ophthalmology. Students will be able to recognize papilledema, know how to evaluate diplopia, recognize optic neuropathies (including optic neuritis and anterior ischemic), as well as common cranial neuropathy III, IV, VI, and palsies. Students must participate in Neuro-Ophthalmology Grand Rounds and present cases and brief reviews of topics of interest.

Registration requires approval from the Neuro-Ophthalmology Department. To request permission, please send a current CV and brief (under 1-page) Letter of Interest (LOI) to Myranda Madriaga (myranda.madriaga@hsc.utah.edu) for departmental review. Please note that space availability is LIMITED from JUNE to SEPTEMBER due to the large influx of students during these months.
