PH MD 7910 - Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
Description
This clinical rotation is designed to provide students with exposure to the breadth of practice in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) from the management of acute musculoskeletal disorders to long-term follow-up of individuals with disabling conditions such as spinal cord injury and stroke. Students will work closely with attending physician faculty and resident physicians in both the inpatient and outpatient setting. Emphasis is placed on students gaining and understanding of the functional outcomes, and the team approach utilized in rehabilitation practice. Students will also have an opportunity to work with various allied health providers such as physical therapist to better understand the role of these individuals in the rehabilitation process. In addition, the student may elect to spend the rotation focused on a particular area of PM&R practice to obtain a more in-depth exposure to this particular area.
