INTMD 7993 - Imagining Medicine
Description
We will explore how ethics and humanities intersect with health and medicine and how creative and scholarly work outside of medicine can greatly influence clinical practice . The concepts of ethics and humanities both will be broadly construed to include law, social sciences, fine and performing arts, and other disciplines. Students with a general interest in learning more about how creative and scholarly work outside of medicine can greatly influence clinical practice are encouraged to enroll. We will be piloting a longitudinal, asynchronous schedule and "selective" approach. This means that enrolled students will select 10 learning activities-readings, lectures, performances, etc.-from a curated list provided by the instructors. Each learning activity will be followed by a brief reflection that requires interaction with another participant. For example, students may be asked to interview another audience member at a public lecture about their response to the content.
