RDLGY 7050 - Introduction to Diagnostic Radiology
Description
Radiology 7050 is a 2-week general elective in diagnostic radiology and is designed to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the various radiology subspecialties, including cardiothoracic imaging, abdominal imaging, musculoskeletal imaging, neuroradiology, breast imaging, nuclear medicine/molecular imaging and interventional radiology.


Course Objectives

As a result of successfully completing the Radiology 7050 course students will be able to:
1. Discuss the strengths and weakness of various imaging modalities, including conventional radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, CT and MRI.
2. Learn how to utilize appropriateness criteria as outlined by the ACR (American College of Radiology) to select the most appropriate imaging exam for a variety of clinical scenarios.
3. Obtain a rudimentary knowledge of imaging anatomy on various imaging modalities.
4. Learn how to recognize fundamental disorders on imaging studies.
