INTMD 6000 - Endocrinology Longitudinal Experience
Description
Brief Description of Course

University of Utah 1st and 2nd year medical students are invited to participate in a clinic experience at the Utah Diabetes and Endocrinology Center (615 Arapeen Dr # 100). Studetns will practice physical exams, history-taking skills,, documentation on EPIC and learn the management of chronic illnesses alongside Dr. Deepika Reddy and other endocrinology physicians. In addition to keeping up with recorded lecture material, students will work one 5-hour shift/month over the Spring or Fall semester.

Students will learn more about various topics in diabetes care including pharmacologic management, diabetes health care technology, nutrition and exercise counseling, and navigating patient insurance. A key element is to understand the role of social determinants of health on the management of diabetes.
