MD ID 7220 - Medical Students as Teachers
Description
The Medical Students as Teachers elective prepares fourth year medical students to become effective teachers for their residency and beyond. Students will receive didactic instruction from educational experts on learning objectives, pedagogy, assessment, feedback, and evaluation. Additionally, students will participate in a journal club to learn about evidence-based approaches to medical education teaching. Students will apply knowledge and skills gained from didactics and reading to a teaching project. The type of teaching project will be determined by a student's individual learning plan and area of interest (e.g> teaching at the bedside/in clinic, teaching in small group, teaching in large group, etc.). Students will receive guidance and feedback on their teaching project from a faculty mentor.
