Description
A Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship is a model of clinical education in which students participate in the comprehensive care of patients over time, engage in continuity of relationships with preceptors, patients, health system & the surrounding community, while meeting core clinical competencies across multiple disciplines simultaneously. The specialties included in this introductory clinical experience include Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, OBGYN, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Surgery. Settings for clinical experiences will be predominately outpatient with intermittent inpatient immersions. The Population Health Longitudinal Integrated Clerkship aligns with the Population Health Pathway and Graduate Certificate and focuses on caring for patients within University of Utah Health and Intermountain Health. An emphasis is placed on understanding population health concepts, improving health systems, and providing care that increases patient safety, engagement, and quality of care, while managing costs.
