Description
Brief Statement of Rationale: Students will gain knowledge of global burden of disease; the social, economic, and cultural determinants of health and disease; and innovation mechanisms to address health system needs across a variety of clinical disciplines. This course introduces students to key healthcare concepts and topics, including an overview of global health, innovation in low-resource environments, infectious disease, pediatric/cancer/reconstructive/trauma surgical care in low-resource settings, and maternal and neonatal health, along with important concepts such as entrepreneurial colonialism and culturally competent needs assessments as tools for developing high-impact innovative solutions.
